Recycle! "Trash" comes back to you in other ways!

BATTERIES:     Household Chemical Collection Facilities in Pulaski County will not accept regular household and rechargeable batteries. Collection facilities will continue to accept automobile batteries.

After August 1, all household and rechargeable batteries should be taken to any of the central Arkansas area RadioShack stores. This is a free service offered by Rechargeable Battery Corporation in partnership with RadioShack.

LIGHT BULBS:     Most everyone has heard that compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) use 75% less electricity, produce less heat and last 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs.  But CFLs contain mercury, a highly toxic and bioaccumulative neurotoxin, and should be recycled.  But where can you take them?

The Home Depot® has a free CFL bulb recycling program in all of its 1,969 stores.  The bulbs must be unbroken and in a plastic bag.  Look for the orange receptacles near the entrance, by the Returns desk, or near the exit doors inside the store.
